About GP Waits

GP Waits exists because NHS England now publishes, for every GP practice in England, how quickly appointments happen after they are booked, but only as a 7 MB spreadsheet. This site turns that spreadsheet into a page per practice and lets you compare practices near you.

It is built and run by one person in the UK, the same person behind Take Home Planner and Cheapest Pump, and it is independent: not affiliated with, endorsed by or funded by the NHS or any practice. It is funded by advertising, which never affects the figures. The numbers are taken from the published files without adjustment; the only calculations are percentages, rankings and weighted averages, all described on the methodology page.

Data is refreshed within a week of each monthly NHS England release. Practice details come from the NHS Organisation Data Service and are updated at the same time. If something is wrong about your practice, tell us and it will be checked against the source.
